Hockey players oust Kelly Paul Kelly, executive director of the National Hockey League Players Association, was voted overwhelmingly out of the top slot on Aug. 31 by the groups executive board during the annual meeting in Chicago. Following the executive boards review of the overall operation of the NHLPA, it was decided that Paul Kelly should no longer continue to serve as executive director, said an NHLPA media release. Kelly, a former Massachusetts trial lawyer, joined the group in 2007, replacing executive director Ted Saskin, who was dismissed in May 2007 following allegations that he monitored players emails.
